BIMSTEC is a one type of economic cooperation organization for South Asian and South East Asian countries. it directed bay of bengal initiative for multi-sectoral technical and economic cooperation. it is formed on 6 June 1997 in bangkok under the name of BISTEC( Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka and Thailand economic cooperation. on 22 December 1997,when Myanmar became member of this organization, the name of this organization has changed as name of BIMSTEC in 2004. however, there are some objectives of this organization including technological and economic cooperation among south Asian and south east Asian countries along the coast of the bay of bengal. now the secretariat of this organization is situated at Dhaka in Bangladesh and the current secretary of this organization is Shidul islam.
